Nasdaq Halted Trading Over Appparent Technological Issue

Early reports today show the NASDAQ  halted trading briefly due to unidentified technological error. It is suspected the origin of the problem came from the Security Information Processor. The simple technological failing could have cause sever repercussions on the market yet the market does not seem phased by the technological hiccup.

The Dow Jones industrial average suffered a similar flash crash on May  6,  2010 so this type of incident is rare but not unheard of.

Trading will resume today at 2:45 p.m., according to NASDAQ officials.

No reports identify cyber terrorism as a possible cause for the flash crash. However the uncertainty can hurt the market. If this flash crash was a cyber attack uncertainty can cause all three markets to crash.

The uncertainty of a cyber attack will drive markets in coming days.
