McCain Casts Doubt About Potential Impact of Peace Talks

Senator John McCain answered questions from journalists at the David Citadel hotel in Jerusalem discussing the recent peace talks between the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Secretary of State John Kerry.

Senator McCain cited doubts expressed by Netanyahu in back room conversations between US officials and Netanyahu.

McCain claims Netanyahu “has serious, serious concerns about the plan as it has been presented to him,” in reference to the recent peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

The recent talks between Israel and Palestine have produced some sense of optimism. However nothing has been officially put on the table as of yet.

McCain's press conference is an early hiccup in a much longer process with appropriate skepticism shared by all parties.

Nasdaq Halted Trading Over Appparent Technological Issue

Early reports today show the NASDAQ  halted trading briefly due to unidentified technological error. It is suspected the origin of the problem came from the Security Information Processor. The simple technological failing could have cause sever repercussions on the market yet the market does not seem phased by the technological hiccup.

The Dow Jones industrial average suffered a similar flash crash on May  6,  2010 so this type of incident is rare but not unheard of.

Trading will resume today at 2:45 p.m., according to NASDAQ officials.

No reports identify cyber terrorism as a possible cause for the flash crash. However the uncertainty can hurt the market. If this flash crash was a cyber attack uncertainty can cause all three markets to crash.

The uncertainty of a cyber attack will drive markets in coming days.

Suspected Boston Bombers Video and Pictures Released

The FBI has released video and pictures of the suspected Boston bombers. The FBI is encouraging everyone to take a look at the photo and video in attempt to identify the subjects.

All tips are helpful especially the symbols on their hats. Both men are wearing hats with a different symbol on each if anyone can identify the symbols or brand of backpacks for the FBI that may lead to a new breakthrough in the case.

I encourage everyone to look through the pictures released by the FBI and try to identify them and call the FBI tip line 1-800-CALL-FBI  or visit the website fbi.gov

Boston Bombing

This is sad day for Americans. As of this posting 2 casualties have been reported and over a hundred wounded. From one of the videos is is unclear the target. The Boston Marathon is a very symbolic target and was chosen to terrify Americans. President Obama has not identified the bombing as a terrorist attack. However white house staff is referring to the event as a terrorist attack. The miscommunication in the white house is unsettling yet not unusual.

My thoughts and prays are with the victims and their families.

Sequestration Kicks In

Sequestratoin has finally set in and the US will not see immediate consequences, yet.

The automatic spending cuts will kick in slowly and the affects will not be seen for awhile. The job loss and spending cuts will be delayed by notifying unions and other government entities.

Politically the real winners are the republicans. Their thirst for spending cuts has been satisfied without the tax increases president Obama suggested. The republicans also successfully kept tax loopholes that protect the wealthy.

The Democratic party really needs to find new ways to compromise or simply get tougher. The Republicans are playing hard ball and they either need to step up or get a super majority in both houses. The Democrats have been getting beat by the opposition because of a lack of common ground or a lack or compromise however they are still losing.

President Obama called the cuts "just dumb" according to the New York Times. The American public will not be questioning the intelligence of the of the bill. They will be questioning why President Obama stood by and let the Republicans strip the government of funds. President Obama will look like a staunch democrat unwilling to move on an unrealistic platform despite whether or not he actually is.

We will see how the White House responds to this and if congress can start compromising again.

Al Gore on the Daily Show

I really enjoyed the conversation Al Gore and Jon Stewart about economics global warming and sustainable capitalism.

I believe my definition of sustainable capitalism is strong government investment and tax breaks to green technologies and companies. Economically solar panels are brilliant and history has shown technology only gets better. So if we start building houses with solar panels they will provide all of their energy they need in the day and account for growing population and decrease our dependency on foreign oil. Foreign oil is not only unreliable, at best, but it does not stimulate our economy. We waste money on oil when we could use our own sun to power our cars. If we even cut down our oil consumption we could get all of our oil from Canada. Our ally to the north currently provides us with a majority of our oil. Also oil from Canada is cheaper because it doesn't have to be shipped half way around the globe to be consumed.

We need to talk about real solutions now. The employment rate went up from 7.8% to 7.9% this past month and even though it is not a huge hit to our economy we could certainly use an economic boost we could see in green energy. If we do it correctly and not like Slyndra or weather proofing homes. We could have used the Keystone pipeline too because Canadian oil is the only oil this country can buy with a degree of certainty. The key to sustainable capitalism is betting on a future that is sustainable. Betting on the technologies that will become powerful in the future that are not big now but will be soon. Sooner than big energy will have the American Public believe.

Pennsylvania and Ohio

It looks as though President Obama will take Pennsylvania which is huge and may win Obama the election this is history making and a very serious step toward victory for President Obama if he can win other key states.
